Probe station and manipulator are key instruments for semiconductor product testing. In my lab, we use it to dry transfer low dimentional materials, such as 1D materials (fibers, nanowires) and 2D materials (graphene, h-BN, TMD, etc.). This process needs great skills and reliable instruments. Probe holder is a small parts installed on the micromanipulator to fix the manipulating needles. We found the commercially available probe holders are not ideal. Therefore I designed a holder that is robust, user friendly and able to be easily manufactured in a basic machine shop.
Most probe holders fixed the needle with a set screw or clamp. Users need extra tools to install the needle and it takes time. I design an adjustable spring load structure so the needle can be installed easily and fixed firmly.
